Icebreaker Activities and Group Games

Have you ever been put in charge of a family event, work social gathering, or even plan to throw a little party but you need to find activities, games or SOMETHING that would keep everyone busy and maybe even encourage a little socialization. Teachers even need ideas to encourage class discussion or get to know you games for the beginning of a school year. What ever the occasion, ice breaker games are the answer!

Icebreaker activities and group games are especially designed by normal everyday people like you who need a purposeful activity for their specific gathering. There are many occasions when such activities are appropriate. Some are designed to spark communication; some are intended to develop team building skills and confidence, while others are plain and simply made to have fun. Providing an opportunity for individuals to get to know each other, and have a good time doing it; shows a desire, compassion, and determination to provide your group with a memorable experience.

Family events almost always have a fairly large group of people or in some cases small intimate groups. When throwing a birthday party, bachelor/bachelorette party, baby shower, bridal shower, house warming party or maybe even just a week-end BBQ, it's always beneficial to have some kind of game or activity to keep the mood energetic and exciting. These activities can either benefit the recipient of the party or to just promote a social ambiance to the festivity.

Work assemblies are often notorious for being boring, inactive, and unsocial events, however, it is becoming ever increasingly popular in this, the new millennium, to change the reputation of these meetings. They can, and are often being viewed as teambuilding opportunities and an occasion to unite team members, build trust, and establish goal setting commitments. Happy employees and motivated teams breed success in the corporate world.

School or church classrooms are a special opportunity to have games and activities such as ice breaker games and get to know you games. Youth typically feed off of social opportunities and love having fun doing it. If your class or group is anxious and unmotivated, a group activity will often completely change the atmosphere and even improve the motivation, participation, and success produced by the crowd.

There are many resources for finding appropriate activities and programs for your family, work or school event; such as books, websites, and magazines. If you can accomplish the goals of your intended gathering AND have fun doing it using group games and icebreaker games, how much better will that be?
